Why Dogs?

You know it, and so do we—dogs are amazing! And it’s no different when it comes to canine conservation. No man-made instrument is able to replicate dogs’ scenting power and efficiency. We experience their natural ability in action every day, and we're passionate about working with them to collect data that helps save our planet.

SUPER SNIFFERS

THE OLFACTORY BULB

What do dogs have that we don't? The part of a dog's brain that is devoted to analyzing smells is around 40 times greater than ours.

SMELLING IN STEREO

A dog's nose is an amazing design. The nose has slit nostrils, which allow a dog to smell continuously on both the inhale and exhale. Using its superb olfactory system, a dog can determine which nostril an odor arrived in first. This helps them locate a scent in space and trace it back to the source.
